HERO Aviation wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built around the way helicopter operations actually run — high-tempo, around-the-clock missions where the paperwork is the last thing anyone has time for and the first thing that gets skipped.
Every safety management system we looked at was too clunky, too academic, or too generic for the people flying the missions. The programs that stalled didn't stall because crews didn't care. They stalled because the tools asked more of a crew than a duty day had room for.
So we built the system operators wished they had: practical, usable, and efficient enough that every person in an operation will actually use it. Hazards get reported because reporting takes a minute. FRATs score themselves. Currency computes itself from the flight log. Each crew member gets an exposure index and a band — Normal, Elevated or High — with every factor behind it listed in plain language, before every flight duty period.
It is informational by design. Fatigue exposure is not a fitness-for-duty determination, not a duty status, and not a prediction of alertness. HERO informs — the pilot in command decides.
