HERO Aviation wasn't built in a boardroom. It was built by a working helicopter pilot who has spent over a decade where the stakes are real — aerial firefighting, hoist rescues over dynamic swift water and mountainous terrain, air ambulance and EMS flights, long-line operations, and search and rescue, often across 24-hour duty cycles.
Since 2011 I've flown everything from the simple R-22 to the complex AW139, and I hold an ATP certificate, a CFI-I, and an AW139 type rating. Serving as the Safety Officer for my unit, I earned the Aviation Safety certificate through USC's Viterbi School of Engineering — and I kept running into the same wall: safety management systems that were too clunky, too academic, or too generic for the people actually flying the missions.
I've also felt the danger myself. I've flown under extreme fatigue during live missions and had the close calls that show how thin that margin really gets. That's not a statistic to me — it's personal. It's why HERO treats crew readiness and fatigue as seriously as it treats airworthiness.
So I built the system I wished I'd had: practical, usable, and efficient enough that every person in an operation will actually use it. This isn't software with an aviation theme. It's an operator's tool — built by an operator, for the people who do this work for real.
I didn't build this to check a compliance box. I built it so the people doing this work get to go home at the end of the day — to their families, their kids, their lives outside the cockpit.
